Welcome!
Wednesday Night Women’s Curling includes experienced and novice players in a weekly Skip’s entry curling league.
Skips manage their team members participation, scheduling changes, etc. Registered curlers are listed on team rosters (4-6 players) and are eligible to earn sweeps.
Finding Spares
Teams are asked to play with a minimum of 3 players. Please make the effort to play on the scheduled date and find a spare. A minimum of two registered players are required to field a team, otherwise the game is defaulted or may be rescheduled.
We have built and will maintain a successful league by welcoming curlers to join the our section.
Donalda members and guests who are not registered in curling are welcome to play as a guest spare up to 6 times per season in leagues.
Non registered curlers (novice and experienced) are also invited to participate in special events e.g. Swing & Sweep, clinics, bonspiels, etc.
Game Time and Pace of Play
Please be prepared for games to begin at 7:15 pm for eight ends.
Players are invited onto the ice at 7:00PM with the ringing of a bell in the Sundial Lounge.
Teams are allotted 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete ends. The time clock on the ice sets the game time*
*In the absence of the time clock 9 PM signals teams to complete the end they are playing and play one additional end.
Note: An end is considered over when the last rock of the end comes to rest or goes out of play.
8 ends of play is expected within the allotted time. Players are asked to do their best to maintain Pace of Play. Skips may encourage speeding up the pace of play by coaching their players to be ready in the hack before their shot and quickly transitioning between between ends. Any communication between skips about pace of play should happen at an appropriate time and not during shots.
Scoring
Scoring is managed by curling staff. Skips or Vices record game results on sheets provided on boards.
Fall Draw
Wins, ties, and losses are reported along with the number of ends won by each team. Scoring will be 10 points for a win, 5 for a tie and 1 for a loss. O points for a default will be awarded. The number of ends played will be used for tie breaking purposes (if necessary).
Teams will play a full round robin series of games.
Schedule is posted on curling website. Please contact Nick if you have any questions regarding schedule or scoring.
